Fillers for the rubber industry
Alongside our comprehensive range of industrial carbon blacks, we also supply active and inactive mineral fillers as e.g. precipitated or fumed silica, Mica and various talc specialties.
Wood-based renewable functional fillers (RFF)
UPM BioMotion™ are wood-based renewable functional fillers (RFF) .The Portfolio is based on biochemicals produced from certified sustainable and regional hardwood and sawmill waste.
Talc
Talc is a phyllosilicate and chemically a (naturally occurring) magnesium silicate hydrate. Due to its special properties (soft, water-repellent), talc has a wide range of uses and is used on the one hand in rubber compounds to improve the mechanical properties and on the other hand as a powdering agent or lubricant in cables.
Mica
Mica, plate-like layered silicates:
our wet-milled special types have a defined particle size, are chemically inert, resistant to heat and weather and exhibit very good electrically insulating properties.
Silica
Precipitated silicic acid:
Silicic acids exhibit a high potential for reinforcement and give rubber blends particularly high values for tensile strength, Shore hardness, tear propagation resistance and abrasion resistance.
"Green" silica from rice husk ash
Company BRISIL has developed a patented process for the resource-efficient production of "green" silicas from biomass (rice husk ash), which are used as functional fillers in tyres, shoe soles, conveyor belts and cables. Currently, there is a production plant in the Indian district of Gujarat with a capacity of 7,400 tpa. Further production plants in Asia are being planned. The REACh registration for this product series has been finished in August 2024. Currently, different types of precipitated silica (specific surface areas of 130-200 m2/g) are produced, which are characterised by a positive 'ecological footprint' and a very good price/performance ratio.
