Corrosion inhibitors

Special corrosion protection additives can prevent electrochemical reactions of metallic and non-metallic materials by building up a passivating film on the surface of the metal. Corrosion inhibitors restrict or prevent these chemical reactions in aqueous, water-miscible and oil-containing systems. They are used mainly, but not exclusively, in applications such as fluids for metalworking. By buffering a wide range of environmental influences and thus being able to guarantee the stability and corrosion protection properties of the lubricants, corrosion protection inhibitors substantially extend the service lives of cooling lubricants.
