Highly integrated components and systems - such as in containers for operating room - are increasingly making use of innovative compounds, mainly based on high-temperature-resistant, amorphous and partially crystalline plastics such as PEEK, PPS, PPSU and PEI. Using special additives, LUVOCOM® applications engineers are able to enhance the frictional and wear characteristics of such compounds and also to raise the electrical and thermal conductivity. Colour, fabrication accuracy, barrier properties, thermal expansion and antimicrobial characteristics are additionally open to selected adjustment.
The main area of use for LUVOCOM® function compounds is to provide substitutes for metals – primarily for reasons of design, weight and cost. Miniaturization of parts and components also plays a major role.
The LUVOCOM® team provides support for the manufacturers of such components in the form of consultancy and service. Selected use of FDA-compliant or biocompatible raw materials means that the relevant certificates and results of material tests required for component approval in human medicine, such as those pursuant to ISO 10993-5, can be delivered on an individual batch basis as well.
